“A Century of Progress in Head and Neck Cancer” The largest Head and Neck Cancer Congress in History was chaired by J.P.Shah, also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the head & neck program at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
4200 participants from 91 countries came to NY. The topic was worked on in 26 panels, satellite symposia, 1200 posters, starting with 5 instructional courses and an industrial exhibition. Following a very impressive opening ceremony with an official opening speech by B.Clinton (video) and introduction of a famous patient M.Douglas all actual questions of head & neck, thyroid cancer and melanoma were discussed on a very high scientific level during the congress days.
ICMFS was one of the supporting organisations. The presidium of ICMFS was represented by the Secretary-General. Great support came from the congressists to the “Petition to Declare July 27 as World Head and Neck Cancer Day” by J.Shah.
